Both my CX500s have now had their Efans on for quite a few years and many thousands of miles with zero problems :)

Hi guys

Great instructions!
I did the Ducati fan-convertion and 85 thermostat. Works pretty well however..
the fan i blowing - not sucking air...

My setup is the same as Gmans image.

Ive tried to find solution online - but no luck.

Do any of you know how I reverse airflow?? :?:

Just change the live/ground wiring around on the fan :)

Test it on the battery :)

Some of the wire colours vary from fan to fan and the fan won't care electrically once you get it to suck instead of blow.

Thanks for reply Gman

My "Live Wire" from fan is blue - which is connected to the black wire i harness.
The Ground from Fan is black and is connectet to thermo - then new wire from thermo to harness "green"

Take the fan apart - flip blue and black ?

What excatly do i need to ? :?:

Swap the blue wire so it goes to the thermo and the black wire so it goes to the harness.Basically you are reversing the polarity so the fan will run the other way hence why I suggest you test off the bike on the battery so you know which way you want the fan to run and then apply that when fitting to the bike :)

Thanks man - I just went straight ahead and mounted+connected the fan - The instructions was just that good :) (Did test if the fan worked before install though  )

It's also worth letting the bike run on the stand until the fan kicks in to make sure all is well. These bikes can even run without a fan depending on the road conditions e.g air-cooling at a constant 30 MPH plus depending on the ambient temperatures etc.
My system has been working on my CXs for years now and it's a lovely secure feeling when stuck in traffic when the fan kicks in and the temp gauge settles down nicely. On one of my CXs I've even chopped the full end of the Cam shaft off and blanked the Tacho drive hole.No more Tach drive seal leaks on this present CX500

I agree - though Denmark is fairly cold all year - ive been caught in traffic more than once with a very hot engine .

Everything works perfect (except the blow/suck) - Fan kicks in when it needs to - and i must say acceleration feels more snappy than before :D  Furthermore easier access to the front of engine block - inc tach hole.

Speaking of tachhole - how did you blank yours out ?

I hack sawed off the end of the cam shaft until it was flush with the Tach hole. Then took the tacho drive cover off and carefully ground the end of the cam-shaft back further until it was below the lip of the Tacho-cover(Tested on and off the engine until correct) enough to fit a circular piece of thin metal into the hole/lip.I stuffed some toilet tissue around the engine hole so no metal particles could get into the engine:Important!!!!

I then used some metal-bond over this once I had degreased it all but also used some rubberised gasket seal on the plate bottom before dropping it into the hole,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Loctite-5920- ... 2ed9d78a9a

Then once set I used some more Metal bond to fill up the hole and sanded it flat so I could paint it.Basically you need the cam-shaft back far enough not to hit the blocked hole/cover and then block off the hole similar to the above.

Tip:To get the Tach-drive cover to fit on the engine easy place a 17mm Socket and wrench on the End of the Crank shaft under the 17mm Inspection cover at the front of the engine and turn the engine clockwise as you look at it.This is the direction the engine turns normally whilst pushing the cover onto the bike.It then should slide on and off easy doing this whilst you work on the bike.

Some people have taken the cover to an engineering company/friend who can make a proper blank for the hole/cover.You could always buy a cheap 2nd hand cover off eBay and work on it off the bike to get it blocked.
