When I first got the bike, the left side head was off and when it came to replacing it I carefully cleaned everything up, dried out the bolt holes and cleaned the bolts. I always let a head 'settle' for half an hour or so after final torque setting is reached then re-check all the bolts again. The top front bolt kept turning a little bit each time and must have gone through almost a complete turn before it was right. The thread had a sticky feel to it, yet when I did both head gaskets a couple of months ago, it was just fine like the rest of them.
