Pulser Coil Replacement

I just pulled the pulser coils from my '82 Gl500I. there was a small amount of oil pooled in the bottom of the cover and the coils & wires are oil soaked. Is this normal? All the other coils I have dealt with were dry. I can not find any seal in the parts fiche.

The pulsar coils are open to oil from the engine.This is normal.See the manual for making sure you refit them correct way otherwise the engine won't fire.The pulsar coils in the GLs are different than the ones in a CX as they use a different,"Transistor" ignition whereas the CX use a CDI system.Also the Ignition coils in a GL are different than those used in a CX so be wary when getting parts not to let a vendor sell you the wrong type.
There is a gasket for the pulsar cover but if you don't have a new one and need to replace you can make one out of a cornflake packet and use some quality liquid gasket sealer like Blue Hylomar or Loctite brands.
