Correctly servicing the Carburettors on these bikes is paramount to good running and fuel economy so any work done will pay back in better mileage :)

Idle Screw Picture

Hey guys, Can you post a picture of the pilot screws? I'm probably looking right at them, but can't seem to identify them.

Number 1 in the Diagram.

Set at 2.5 turns out from the carb body

Note:On a lot of American models they have a restricter tab on them.This was part of the emission controls in the 1980s and is not needed and stops the idle screw being moved fully.

Notice the order of components as you remove or fit the idle screws.

Idle screw ->Spring -> Small washer -> Tiny 0-ring(Important).
Some times the small o-ring can perish or get pushed into the screw seat causing Carb problems so check the hole before re-fitting

if #1 is the idle screw than what is #12? i've been using that to set my idle because i thought thats what it was for.

12, is your idle adustment.normal is 1100rpm[this screw opens both carb butterflys at the same time and equal amount to achieve the 1100rpm

1, is your mixture air to fuel ratio adjustment , which is set at idle
